How to Color a Mask

    Frist to start off you will need to save the Image Center on your fkey. It will make imaging a lot easier.


... To Get Started ...


1. First you need to find an image you would like to use.

2. Here is one I chose. Native Reserve

3. You can find the perfect color to put on your mask for your image by taking the image to the Image Center. Then clicking on the Expert Color Grabber. Next click on the image and take the arrow to the color in the image you would like to use in the mask. Then hit your return key. It will then show you and give you that exact color to use. Write that down.

4. Now you need to find the size of that image, since both the mask and the image need to be the same size. To find the size of the image, just click on the image you selected and then click on the fkey where the Image Center is saved. Scroll down and you will see the image with the width and height of it listed. Write that down. The Native Reserve is 400x538.

5. You also need to know how to copy and paste, since that will be used later in this tute.

6. Next you need to find a mask you would like for your image. There are some sites listed in the Image Center under Misc.

7. I chose this mask. Snowflake Star Mask This mask is from the Masks Galore site listed in the Image Center under Misc. Note: You need to use a mask that is not shaded or blurred to color.

... To Color The Mask ...


1. Click on the mask you want to use. Snowflake Star Mask

2. Click on the fkey for the Image Center, then click on Image Magick to go to one of the image center listed. Note: All of the Image Magick's will automatically take the url of the mask there to manipulate from the Image Center only.

3. Resize the mask to the size of the image you chose by clicking on Resize at the top of the page. Then add 400x538! where it says size. Don't forget the ! after the size. Then click on Zoom, then Resize.

4. Next to make the mask transparent.

5. Below the image you will see selections.

6. Make these.. Paint type = Matte
                         Method = Replace
                         Fuzz = 9999

7. Then click in the center of the mask in the white area. It will then make it transparent. It should look like this. Sample

8. Next to make it colored.

9. Below the image you will see selections.

10. Make these.. Paint type = Color
                           Method = Replace
                           Fuzz = 9999
                           Color = #8CA295

11. Then click near the edge of the mask in the black area. It will then make it colored. It should look like this. Sample

12. Next to make the mask a bit shaded to blend over the image.

13. Click on Effects at the top.

14. Make Parameter 20, then click on Spread, then Effect. It should now look like this. Sample

15. Next click on Output. Make Format Gif, click on Single File and then output. (This must be Outputted as a GIF to keep it transparent.)

16. Then click on the mask that is shown.

17. On you keyboard then click on Goto, then show last. Copy the URL of the mask to be used in the next step... :o)

... To Mask the Image ...


1. Click on the image you chose. I chose this one. Native Reserve

2. Click on the fkey for the Image Center, then click on Image Magick Net4tv or DS Image Magick. (if you are a member there) Note: Both of those Image Magick's will automatically take the url of the mask there to manipulate from the Image Center only.

3. Click on Composite.

4. In the URL text area, paste in the mask you colored and copied. (erase http:// first)

5. Leave Compose at Over.

6. Click on Compostie now.

7. This is what you made. Native Reserve Masked

8. Next click on Output.

9. Click on Format then JPG, Single file button and then Output.

10. Then click on your image shown to transload to your files.

      Note : This is how it would look on a page using the same masked color for the background. Sample Page Here is another example...Sample Page 2 :o)
